About our choir

The “Talava” Choir was formed in February 1993 by the members of Moscow Latvian Culture Society. Latvia’s Ambassador to Russia Mr. Janis Peters and Mrs. Lauma Vlassova, the Attache for the Latvian community in Moscow, have supported by personal participation the creation of the choir.The main aim of the choir’s activity, as seen by it’s members, is to promote and increase the popularity of the Latvian choral music which remains today one of the major elements of the Latvian cultural heritage. Every year the choir gives numerous concerts in Latvia and since 1998 “Talava” is a regular participant of the Latvian Nationwide Song and Dance Festival.In all the years of the choir’s existence more than 200 concerts were given at the most prestigious concert halls, including The Gnessin’s Musical Academy, The Tretiakov Gallery, Glinka’s Museum, in Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Suzdal, Vologda, Smolensk, Pskov, Kursk, Veliky Novgorod and other towns of Russia. The “Talava” choir is also a diplomant of international choir festivals and competitions.The choir’s repertoire includes, however, the choral music pieces of various countries as well. Since 1997 “Talava” participates in the choral music festivals held in the countries of the North Baltic region: in Gottland (Sweden), Shien (Norway), Klaipeda (Lithuania).The choir’s repertoire comprises of the major classical pieces: “Stabat Mater” by Pergolezi, Concerto No.3 by Bortnyansky, The Mess by Grechaninov. The Mess G dur by Schubert, “Gloria” by Vivaldi and Missa brevis St Joannis de Deo (Kleine Orgelmesse) by Haydn were performed by The “Talava” Choir and The Borodin’s Symphonic Orchestra (cond. by P.Lando). In 2002 the choir participated in the International Festival of Music in Moscow where it did perform along with the choir and the orchestra from Freiburg (Germany) the Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. This performance took place at the magnificent Temple of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.During the existence of the choir the number of its members has nearly doubled. At present there are 35 singers in the choir of most various age groups.

О нашем хоре

Лауреат международных конкурсов и фестивалей, хор Общества латышской культуры г. Москвы «ТА́ЛАВА» создан в 1993 году при содействии Посольства Республики Латвии в РФ. Ежегодно коллектив выступает с концертными программами классической и современной музыки как в России, так и за рубежом. «Талава» является участницей различных музыкальных фестивалей:

  • фестиваль «Москва-город мира» (2 место, 2014 г.)

  • фестиваль Северных и Балтийских стран в: гг.Висби (Швеция, 1998), Шиен (Норвегия, 2000), Клайпеда (Литва, 2002), Рейкъявике (Исландия, 2010), Риге (Латвия 2015); 

  • лауреатом конкурса Musica Mundi в гг. Вернигероде (Германия, 2005) и Линц (Австрия, 2007),

  • фестиваль В.Гаврилина в г.Вологде (Россия, 2004)

  • постоянный участник Праздников Песни в Риге (Латвия, с 1998 г.)

В репертуаре хора произведения Я.Витолса, А.Юрянса, А.Калныньша, С.Менце, П.Васкиса, С.Рахманинова, Г.Свиридова, В.Гаврилина, С.Танеева, А.Вивальди, В.А.Моцарта, Ф.Шуберта, Й.Брамса и др. За время существования хора исполнено около 240 песен на 10-ти европейских языках.

Основатель и бессменный руководитель – дирижер Тамара Семичева родом из Латвии, закончила Петербургскую консерваторию им.Римского-Корсакова.

Концертмейстер хора – Алла Шубина, хормейстер – Антон Хромов.
